Raiding Guild Ranks Guide
First of all, we all have to realize that the most important factor while making the ranks of a guild, is the exact type of the raiding guild, since this can differ in various ways.
Still there can be applied some common principles, considering the fact that raiding is the main idea behind the guild.
Keep in mind that even during Cataclysm, with so many changes at the guild UI, still the number of ranks possible to have are 10.
The ranks of a raiding guild should stand those purposes for sure:
- Officer team: 1 to 4 ranks suggested. Guild Master, Co-GMs, Class Leaders, Alts for officers, Loot Council members. The ability to view officer chat is what is common for all those ranks. You can differentiate between the ranks guild vault permissions, repairs permissions, invite/remove from guild, etc. Humble opinion, if you have a special rank for alts of officers, remove any privilege except the view officer chat one.
- Raiding team: 1 to 2 ranks suggested. It is common in many guilds to keep 2 ranks for the raiders, one of the members and one for the core of raiders.
- Trials: 1 rank suggested.
- Alts: 1 rank suggested also.
The above mentioned ranks are close to self-explanatory and no need to mention more regarding them. Depending the rank and the style you want to keep for the guild, you need to allow/disallow certain privileges to the ranks regarding the guild bank permissions to see/deposit/withdraw at guild tabs, among with guild repairs options.
Finally there are some more ranks that can be added, whether or not the guild has a social aspect or not, or for any other reasons a guild master can think of and will help him/her in the better management of the guild. Examples of those ranks can be:
- - Mute rank: 1 rank suggested. When heat hits the roof, a rank where the ability to talk @ guild chat is removed, can be really handy. A lot of misunderstandings can be avoided or things to get solved via whisper and under a more calm tone, than a guild spam burst.
- - Socials rank: 1 rank suggested. A lot of raiding guilds keep a social aspect also, except the raiding one. This is even more common nowadays with Cataclysm, since 10man guilds get their place too, which always tend to have a definite social aspect.
- - Special Duties rank: 1 rank suggested. During Cataclysm this type of rank can become even a necessity for the majority of the raiding guilds. In this rank can be put people, who might not be needed to be in the main officer team, might not even raid at some rare cases (mostly for social raiding guilds), but have some major contribution to the guild. Guild Bank repairs and rest privileges might be good idea to be considered. Below are some examples of some of the duties possible:
- 1. DKP tracking/updating (if DKP are used)
- 2. Site/Forum Administrators
- 3. 10man leaders (if 25man are main focus of guild)
- 4. PVP events leaders
- 5. Achievement run leaders
- 6. Other (WoL trackers, etc)
I hope this guide was helpful enough regarding the Ranks a Raiding Guild could use.
